Combating Obesity for Alachua County’s Health
COACH is Alachua County’s health initiative on combating obesity. It was organized by the Alachua County Medical Society and Alliance.
Mission Statement
COACH is a public/private partnership whose mission is to reduce and prevent obesity in our county by creating healthy environments for children and adults through advocacy, education, policy development, and environmental change.
Purpose
The purpose of COACH is to create, support and mobilize partnerships to combat obesity among multiple entities; provide leadership and planning; and coordinate the county-wide efforts.
Goals
1. Increase access to healthy foods
2. Increase engagement in physical activity
3. Build social, educational, business and governmental environments that enhance the impact of these goals
4. Institute prospective research on the impact of these efforts
